It is a bit more floaty which provides players more time to react to moving ball. They are not meant to be entirely realistic, but they are not that bad.After the studio acquired the license to Williams tables, they started releasing the tables did a better job than Farsight did on Pinball Arcade.

With this, they created a new physics system designed to replicate the real physics as closely as possible on those Williams table. This physics is only enabled on Williams tables that are part of Volume 1 3. In the pinball community, the physics has been praised to be more accurate than Pinball Arcade.However, the community also complained flipper part of physics being a little too sticky.

To improve this, they have added additional physics improvements on the flipper alone to the tables on Volume 4 only. This improvement includes flipper slightly flicking, giving the ball a minuscule bounce when it hits the flippers. They claim that this was only done on the fourth DLC because they want to gather feedback before they want to enable it on the rest of the Williams tables. Whether it's a marketing move or not is unclear.

They have said 'they may get added to Volume 1 3 later' so take that as you wish. Although I've tried real pinball tables many times before, the only one I currently have physical access to it now is Medieval Madness so this comparison only applies to that.

I also want to point out that VPX table quality solely depends on the user who created it. I tried 3 4 MM VPX and only one of them are great. Second one came close, but the rest are pretty poor.People swear by VPX, probably because they are free, but based on my experience just with MM, I like FX3 the best. Playing it on either VPX or FX3 doesn't feel as exciting as watching a real ball traveling through real mechanic parts, but I wouldn't say one virtual alternative is superior over the other solely on physics. FX3 has online leaderboards, flashy graphics if you enable them, and generally have consistent quality over the Williams tables released so far.VPX quality just relies on the table creator and while some tables like White Water are great on it, the rest are not as great as people say they are. My friend, who owns the very MM table, loves Pinball FX3, and when they come over they like to play on it.

I play MM every other week at my friend's so my standards are casually high on the table quality, but when it comes to physics both VPX and FX3 were good enough for me to not be bothered by it.I'm also biased against TPA because I hated everything about that game. The pricing, the sluggish UI, awful support, lazy and consistently missing deadlines. Regardless, I know for a fact that the physics was off. I immediately hated how MM on TPA felt. It was actually too different. And this is coming from a casual pinball player.As for FX2, it never had the updated physics in attempt to replicate the real tables. Williams table came only on FX3 after they acquired license last year and the new physics is ONLY enabled on the Williams DLC.

The new flipper physics is exclusive to Vol. 4 for now.FX3 also has some updated physics over FX2 (a dev answered this on their forums), so if your experience was with FX2, it can't hurt to try FX3.
