A fair review.Im bias so i can't comment much as i'd rate this game in my top 10. And i've played a lot of games.Its definatly an aquired taste.

You arent gonna get all the crash bangs and epic stories, but what you are going to get is the use of your noggin, something lost in a lot of games nowadays.You stated that there are combinations of cards that are over powered, well IMO thats the point. There are loads of powerful combinations and thats the beauty of etherlords.But they arent 'over' powered i'd say, it takes a while to really get a deep understanding of the combinations, and i dont mean to patronise with that at all. Took me a while.Im playing another campaign at the moment and finding new stuff and i bought this when it was originally released.I digress, good review.

In playing the Etherlords 2 Single Player Demo, and Full Version of 1, I have a few comments and comparisons of my own to make.I think 2 is more of a RPG/Strategy and is much more focused on the RPG element then. This is just an observation and comment not saying either is worse. I just think that 1 was More of a TBS unlike 2. I happen to prefer 1 over 2 because of this but I don't really hold it against 2.The option to take away the need to buy Runes and getting spells via fighting in 2 is a way in which the games differ a lot.

This has it's good points and bad points.I am not sure if this is true for the whole game but it seems your only allowed the 1 Hero in 2. This is what makes it more RPG then TBS imho.Overall with just what I know so far I prefer 1 over 2 although I do admit that 2 has somethings to like.
