A quick explanation behind these termsRight a little confusion on this subject so, we will give you a bit of our interpretation, we must admit it will vary from council to council in its specifics but in general here are the keys points. So please check with you Planning Authority on Playground designPA=Planing AuthorityDDA= Disability discrimination ActLAP abbreviation of Local Areas for Play, normally small landscaped areas of open space designed for young children (under 6’s), a LAP should be provided on new developments of 10 or more houses (variable on PA) on large developments more than 1 or more LAP may need to be provided, or a combination of LAPS LEAP or NEAP sites could also be supplied. These LAPs Must be within 5 minuets safe walking time locally, and the areas should also provide safe, attractive whilst encouraging developing social skills with the interaction with others. Consideration is to be expressed in to the play areas position in order that it maybe locally supervised, in this respect surrounding structures or planting schemes must also be considerate to alow open, unobscured view of the area. A consideration for these sites is to reduce the use of unintended visitors to the site, so the use of age specific equipment, furniture or landscape is also critical. Dimensions 100m2 of reasonably flat grassed areas in the main, pathways or hard standing may also be beneficial, ideally enclosed to prevent access to dogs etc and provide safety next to highways etc. A safety ownership sign should be provided.LEAP abbreviation of Local Equipped Area for Play, normally designed for unsupervised play of age ranges 4-12 but considerate of other age range and users. Generally a Leap will be of open nature to allow for interaction and free play of the children, again equipment placement and choice must be stimulating, allow for creative (imaginative play) joint or social play, and consideration to DDA.
These will be normally found on new developments as part as a cumulative, but recommended (variable on PA) on developments of 30 -100 homes. Again, should more homes be built a combination of LAP, LEAP, NEAP could be used in combination. LEAPS are advised to be within 10 minuets safe walking distance from home, situated again for informal supervision ie by well used routes or houses, again planting or visual obstructions to be considered in its location. A LEAP should offer 5 points of play (play equipment) and seating provision for parent guardians, again product selection should show age range appropriate ie cradle seat swings and also flat seat swings, Black (?) epdm wetpour safety surfacing, is recommended. (we guess black safety surfacing for maintenance cost reasons). Sites will be normally enclosed with fencing or other anti dog devices such as dog grids ect, this will contain 400m of open play space free from water courses, roads, power lines etc, however an activity zone roughly half the size is considered as compliance (this would be made up from 200m2 of play surface with equipment + 200m2 grass area) a buffer zone including planting is also to be included 20 (PA) from the nearest house. A safety ownership sign should be provided.NEAP abbreviation of Neighbourhood Equiped Area of Play, these play areas must cater for the whole spectrum of the users of the play area but targeted at ages 4-14, and will be dominant on developments on 100 homes plus landscaped for stimulating play, a little confusion here as no upper limit is given, please contact your local PA for guidance! Teenage provision is highly regarded so the provision of kick about areas skate and gathering areas are also to be considered.
Distance from home should equate to 15 minuets from home, found in a focal/central position within the development. Demonstration of informal play supervision and DDA accessibility to the site. Again enclosed from hazards such as roads, ponds and to exclude animals from the site. Recommended are dog grids, self-closing gates, a safety ownership sign should be provided. This areas are (if size parameter permit) 1000m2 if 8-9 play points (equipment can be positioned with out overlapping of the safety zone areas, the positioned 30m away from the nearest home with adequate buffer zone planting. All the above are only guideline but relatively good one, please check with your local authority to the relevent code per Planning Authority, hope this help you, any questions, just ask.
In finance, LEAPS (an acronym for Long Term Equity Anticipation Security) are options of longer terms than other more common options. LEAPS are available on approximately 2500 equities and 20 indexes. As with traditional short term options, LEAPS are available in two forms, calls and puts.
Options were originally created with expiry cycles of 3, 6, and 9 months, with no option term lasting more than a year. Options of this form, for such terms, still constitute the vast majority of options activity. LEAPS were created relatively recently and typically extend for terms of 2 years out. Equity LEAPS typically expire in January. For example, if today were November 2019, one could buy a Microsoft January call option that would expire in 2020, 2021, or 2022. The latter two are LEAPS.
When LEAPS were first introduced in 1990, they were derivative instruments solely for stocks; however, more recently, equivalent instruments for indices have become available. These are also referred to as LEAPS.
Applications[edit]
LEAPS are often used as a risk reduction tool by investors. For example, in an article in Stocks, Futures and Options Magazine, Dan Haugh of PTI Securities & Futures suggests that stock investors can manage risk and price protection by considering purchase of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) and “.buying put protection on that ETF with LEAPS.' [1] In the case of stocks, the risk reduction application is when the owner of the stock writes LEAPs on his holding. The owner of the stock essentially creates the LEAP. The result at the expiry of the LEAP can be determined from its exercise price. (LEAPs are written for a wide variety of exercise prices.) If the stock closes below the exercise price, the buyer of the LEAP has lost what he spent to buy the LEAP. If the close is higher than the exercise price, the LEAP typically will automatically be exercised by the broker. The buyer can then sell the stock. His cost of the stock to the LEAP buyer will be the cost of the LEAP plus the exercise price (and any commissions). Most often the buyer of the LEAP is a speculator who hopes that the stock will rise enough in market price for him to make a profit when the LEAP expires.
